AWARD-WINNING PHOTOGRAPHER
Elisa Miller is a French fine art photographer based in London.
Her work explores womanhood, identity, memory and the often invisible stories that shape who we become. She is interested in the space between the person we are, the person we are expected to be, and the person we might become. Through carefully constructed scenes, cinematic lighting and symbolism, she creates images that feel both familiar and dreamlike.
Miller often draws on childhood memories, myths and tales, archetypes and popular culture, using them as a way to explore the experiences that stay with us into adulthood. Her photographs are deliberately theatrical, but beneath their beauty there is often something more unsettling. They question ideas around femininity, transformation, expectation and the parts of ourselves we inherit before we are old enough to choose them.
Born in Paris in 1981, she began her creative journey in front of the camera, working as a model for vintage-inspired brands and classic car publications. In 2017, she transitioned behind the lens, developing a self-taught practice that has since gained international recognition.
For her, photography is a way of making the internal visible. Rather than simply documenting a moment, she builds imagined worlds in which psychological experiences can take physical form. Her work is deeply personal, while leaving space for the viewer to bring their own memories and interpretations to the image.
Miller's work has been exhibited at the Saatchi Gallery in London, and other international cities such as Paris, New York, Los Angeles, Milan, Barcelona, Budapest and Tokyo. Her photography has received recognition from the Julia Margaret Cameron Awards, PX3, the International Photography Awards (IPA) and the Aesthetica Art Prize, and has been featured in publications including Aesthetica Magazine, Lens Magazine, All About Photo and Photography Masterclass.
